Disney Goes Reggae Exclusive

Disney goes Reggae, out June 4
Disney Reggae Club not only features Marley and the first family of reggae, but also current musical legends Matisyahu, Steel Pulse, UB40 and Yellowman. They all join together to bring 12 tracks from the Disney library and one classic from Louis Armstrong to life in classic reggae arrangement. Sheknows.com

This is Disney’s first foray into the reggae format and the Mouse House could not have enlisted a more powerful group of the genre’s biggest stars. Matisyahu tackles Circle of Life, Cedella Marley jams on Can You Feel the Love Tonight and don’t miss Steel Pulse’s take on the classic Jungle Book song, The Bare Necessities. The full track listing for Disney Reggae Club is below along with our world premiere of Ziggy Marley’s priceless version of Armstrong’s What a Wonderful World.

Looking back over the Disney songbook, many of these songs are no-brainers when bringing the reggae beat to Disney. Hearing Under the Sea or Kiss the Girl from The Little Mermaid could easily produce questions such as, "Why didn’t they do it reggae from the start?"

"The genius of Disney songs is that they are timeless and adaptable to every musical genre. Reggae is so joyous and spirited. We knew these songs would lend themselves perfectly," said executive producer Brian Malouf. "I'm happy to say the artists, many of them true legends of reggae, all jumped at the chance to participate."

Disney Reggae Club premieres in stores and online June 8, but stay with SheKnows for not only the below Marley track, but for more insights from the album as the release date gets closer.
